Sustainability
Sustainability is the process of enabling everyone to satisfy their basic needs and enjoy a better quality of life, without compromising it for future generations.
Information on how we can create a sustainable South East region is outlined in the Sustainable Development section. This includes the Regional Sustainability Framework, which sets out sustainable development objectives, targets and indicators for the region.
How we manage our natural resources, the energy we use and the waste we produce is a vital part of sustainability. Please visit our Natural Resources page for further details.
Consultation on the draft sustainability appraisal scoping report
The draft Sustainability Appraisal (SA) Scoping Report is under consultation from 18 February 2010 to 8 April 2010. Your views are welcome.
The SA is an integral part of the development of the new regional strategy (which will be known as the 'South East England Strategy'). It will help to ensure the strategy is sustainable by assessing its economic, social and environmental impact and how any negative effects can be mitigated.
Please see the regional strategy section for further details.
