Transport
The Partnership Board has a key role in advising Government on significant transport issues in South East England. It is responsible for co-ordinating and implementing the transport aspects of the Regional Strategy, which ensures transport projects in the region complement and support sustainable development and support businesses.
South East England was the first region in the country to have a Regional Transport Board (RTB). The RTB gives advice on all aspects of transport delivery and implementation, prioritisation of transport projects for the regional funding allocation, and the wider role of transport delivery.
Current Work
The Delivering a Sustainable Transport System (DaSTS) process aims to ensure that a clear set of national and regional transport priorities is defined for 2014 and beyond.
The Regional Funding Advice (RFA) is our advice to Government on investment priorities for the region. The advice covers indicative regional funding allocations for transport, housing and regeneration and economic development for the period up to 2014.
Work on aviation in the South East includes a recent study into surface access requirements to maximise airport capacity in the South East.
Rail related work includes projects such as AirTrack, linking the region's towns with Heathrow Airport.
Road related work includes bus and coach projects, such as the Government's Kickstart bus funding competition.
