Short monthly update statements will be provided to keep you informed of the study's progress.
February-April 2010
The draft Interim Report was submitted to the Regional Transport Board for its meeting on 12 March 2010. Key tasks undertaken as part of this included reviewing the results of the consultation exercise, finalising the strategic outcomes, assessing the theoretical maximum performance against the 26 DaSTS challenges if all seven sub-regional outcomes, and refining the localisation of the challenges to make them relevant to the local context. Non-transport policy areas were also identified, and funding options were developed and packaged.
January 2010
Key tasks completed since the December update include agreeing the key outcomes for the study area. Almost 30 DaSTS challenges for delivering sustainable economic growth have been identified within the study area. Work has also begun with stakeholders on identifying the potential measures needed to overcome and address the identified challenges.
December 2009
Key tasks for the study include the review of existing planning and strategy documents to understand key issues and challenges for the sub-region. These have then been used to distil a series of sub-region specific statements which relate the national DaSTS challenges to Urban South Hampshire. Building upon this work, the key policy statement for Urban South Hampshire is being re-affirmed, with key outcomes for the sub-region being confirmed from this.
Alongside this task, work has been ongoing to identify the long list of existing interventions for sifting to demonstrate the revised policy framework within which we are now working. This has involved further review of planning and transport strategy documents, consultations with local planning and transport authorities and liaison with ongoing consultancy studies. Details of the interventions on this list, in terms of locations or geographic scope, policy drivers, type of intervention and budget cost are being collated to enable the first sift of undeliverable interventions. This has begun with those interventions considered to be undeliverable, or undeliverable within the DaSTS timeframe being sifted out.
Continued liaison with the Partnership Board has been appreciated and has helped to clarify some of the issues our advanced position has resulted in us encountering. Outcomes that will guide the study are being formulated. The priority from here is to identify the interventions necessary to realise the sub-regional outcomes in accordance with the DaSTS goals.
